The live broadcast of the Nidahas Trophy T20 triangular international series in Sri Lanka has placed Rishtey Cineplex at top of the Hindi movie genre channels in the Broadcast Audience Research Council data chart.
Live broadcast of the India-Bangladesh and India-Sri Lanka matches on Rishtey Cineplex has also figured as the top shows in the Hindi Movie genre top five live for week 10 (Saturday, March 3 to Friday, March 9) BARC data.
The Hindi simulcast of the Nidahas Trophy matches on DD Sports tops the channel and programmes charts for the sports genre.
DSport, the broadcaster to have procured Nidahas Trophy rights for the Indian territory, is lagging behind its broadcaster for Hindi programming of the series Rishtey Cineplex and DD, who gets the feed as mandatory share under the Sports Broadcasting Signals (Mandatory Sharing with Prasar Bharati) Act, 2007.
The two matches during the Week 10 period have enabled Rishtey Cineplex register 545,931,000 gross impressions on BARC Ratings meters between March 3 and March 9. These numbers place the Viacom 18 group channel in the No. 1 position for Hindi movie genre on Indian television. DD Sports has been the sports genre leader with 144,541,000 impressions. However, breaking into the top five sports genre list for the first time is the only significant gain for DSport, the Discovery-owned sports channel.
Live cricket show on Rishtey Cineplex has also got the best ratings for movie genre channels and the second position among overall sports shows for the week.
The tri-series opener on March 6, between hosts Sri Lanka and India, has been the most watched sports genre show with 10,117,000 impressions on DD Sports even as India were beaten by the hosts convincingly. However, Rishtey Cineplex had attracted better viewership than DD Sports as India rallied to beat Bangladesh two days letter.
The English language live broadcast has secured fourth and fifth position for the India-Sri Lanka (7,623,000 impressions) and India-Bangladesh (6,627,000 impressions) ties respectively.
Rishtey Cineplex is poised to make more gains on the strength of the Nidahas Trophy as the coming week will carry the data of India’s two exciting wins over hosts Sri Lanka and Bangladesh respectively. The viewership trend has also further established movie viewers appetite for cricket content on Indian television.
