Apart from the final, one of the two semi-finals will be held at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It is no surprise for anyone about the rich heritage that Wankhede stadium holds for Indians. It was at this very stadium where India lifted the World Cup Trophy back in 2011.

India vs Pakistan Conflict

The BCCI and the PCB are now in crosshairs regarding the hosting of the Asia Cup and India’s participation in the same. The BCCI has made it clear that Rohit Sharma and Co will not travel to Pakistan (the hosts of the Asia Cup). And in this ensuing conflict, BCCI has opted to play at a neutral venue.

The ongoing conflict of between BCCI and the PCB has reached a new height. Ex-PCB CEO and the General Manager of Cricket for ICC, Wasim Khan has claimed that Pakistan will now opt to choose to play the ICC World Cup 2023 at a neutral venue (likely to be Bangladesh) and not in India.

Pakistan team could play its ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 matches in Bangladesh instead of India, which is the original host of the tournament. The World Cup is slated to take place in October-November this year. Discussions have taken place that could see Pakistan shifting their games to a neutral venue and Bangladesh has been proposed as venue due to its close proximity to India. Due to tense political relations between both nations, the idea was discussed last week at International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings.
