The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has teamed up with artificial intelligence (AI) sports video technology company WSC Sports to grow the reach of the T20 cricket competition’s video content.
The CPL, which will be the first major T20 competition to take place since the global sport shutdown, will utilise WSC Sports’ platform to significantly scale up the delivery of real-time video highlights for this year’s event.
Additionally, the partnership will provide local audiences with customised player highlights for overseas stars such as Rashid Khan, Imran Tahir and Chris Lynn.

The CPL will also live stream every match to selected markets on its social media platforms using easylive.io broadcast technology.
The agreement adds to the list of global sports properties using WSC Sports’ AI automation technology. This includes the Big Bash League (BBL) and Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) in Australia, as well as the National Basketball Association (NBA), the International Basketball Federation (Fiba), the Bundesliga, Major League Soccer (MLS) and golf’s PGA Tour.
“At the CPL we are always trying to innovate to give our fans the best possible experience,” said Chris Watson, the CPL’s head of marketing.
“This year more than any other it is vital that fans in the Caribbean and around the world are able to engage with the tournament through our social media channels. WSC means in 2020 following the CPL will be easier than ever.”
Guy Port, WSC Sports’ head of Asia Pacific, added: “It is exciting for fans to see live T20 cricket return to our screens. WSC is proud to partner our video automation solution with the CPL to help provide more stories to more fans every day of the tournament.”
Due to take place in Trinidad and Tobago from 18th August to 10th September, the CPL continued its preparations by striking commercial partnerships earlier this month with Asian-based gambling operators Bet Daily and Fun88.
As well as the two betting firms offering new content for fans, CPL followers will have the opportunity to participate in various big-winning competitions.
The Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors will open this year’s CPL in its bio-secure environment behind closed doors at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy stadium.
