AS Roma has recently signed a shirt sponsorship deal with Qatar Airways, the biggest ever signed by the club and the largest among other Italian Football Clubs. The financial terms of the deal have still not been disclosed.

The news follows after Arsenal announced a five-year extension last month with their longest running shirt sponsor Emirates. The deal with the Dubai-based airline, signed until the 2023-24 season, is reportedly worth $281 million according to British media reports.

Arsenal has jumped two spots from the last year’s seventh position after its latest deal with Emirates Leaving behind FC Manchester City at sixth.

With huge earnings from the shirt sponsorship deals, topped up by the new broadcast revenue sharing models introduced in various European Leagues, the clubs are now making more money than ever before.

Premier League clubs had last year smashed all records in combined shirt sponsorship deals with 181% growth and 20 clubs generating $367.3 million for the 2017-18 season, from an aggregate of $130.9 million in the year 2010-11.

It will be interesting to see if the premier league clubs achieve the same feat this year following Arsenal’s move.
