The CoA is definitely in a hurry to finalize the constitution at its very earliest. The draft needs to submitted to the Supreme Court by 15th July, while as per the deadline set by the FIFA-AFC delegation, the constitution needs to be finalized by July 31. On the other hand, the elections for the AIFF need to be conducted by September 15.
“Nothing much happened today. Some people expected the CoA to disclose how the final constitution would look like. But it didn’t come. Like earlier, the CoA patiently listened and took notes to what the states had to say. But on their part, the CoA didn’t declare anything,” reported News9 Sports.
“Obviously, the states aren’t satisfied. The entire ambit of objections couldn’t be discussed today. There were only discussions on 3-4 clauses. But we couldn’t arrive at any conclusion,” a state official, who attended the meeting said on condition of anonymity.

The state associations have raised around 44 objections that need to be decided and then enacted upon. “The CoA said it would take at least two-three days to finalise the constitution, which would then be shared with us. Then we could take a call on that.”
The difference in opinions was chiefly raised on matters concerning the common representation, the eligibility of members of the electoral college, the size of the ExCo and the compliance of age limit.
“We had a fruitful meeting with the SA members and valuable suggestions were exchanged. The CoA will take into consideration all the suggestions that have come so far and finalise the constitution to be submitted to honourable Supreme Court,” Dr SY Quraishi, part of the three-member CoA, said in a statement.
Another CoA member, Justice (Retired) Anil R Dave, said: “All efforts are being made to finalise the AIFF constitution at the earliest and place it before the honourable Supreme Court. We expect the AIFF elections to be held immediately after the apex court approves the constitution.”
