Chelsea transfers LIVE: Marc Cucurella transfer saga
Yesterday, reports flooded saying Brighton’s Marc Cucurella had agreed a deal with Chelsea after Manchester City stepped out of the race.
Football transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano tweeted, “Marc Cucurella will be in London on Thursday morning together with his agents: Chelsea have already booked medical tests then contract until June 2028 will be signed. Fee will be £52.5m for Cucurella and then Brighton will buy Levi Colwill in a separate deal.”
Later on, Brighton & Hove Albion took to social media and issued a statement saying, “Contrary to inaccurate reports from numerous media outlets this evening, no agreement has been reached with any club to sell Marc Cucurella.”
It is understood that Brighton’s stance is down to their desire to find a replacement first. The Guardian says they have already failed with moves for Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilón and Porto’s Zaidu Sanusi, but will now sign Chelsea’s 19-year-old defender Levi Colwill in a separate deal. Once that is wrapped up then Cucurella will be officially sold to Chelsea, where he will sign a six-year deal.
Chelsea eye surprising move for Aubameyang
New reports have claimed that Chelsea are now looking at ex-Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to help bolster Thomas Tuchel’s forward line.
The 33-year-old Gabonease striker – who worked with Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund – only signed for Barcelona in January, but the cash-strapped Blaugrana could be convinced to sell in order to ease their financial woes.

According to Times Sport, “Chelsea are frontrunners to sign Frenkie de Jong, who appears to favour a move to London and the prospect of playing in the Champions League. His agent is scheduled to meet Barcelona today.”
