Shubman Gill Bat Sponsorship – Will it be CEAT or MRF? Indian cricket and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batting sensation Shubman Gill is currently without a bat sponsor. According to available information leading tyre companies MRF and CEAT both are vying for the vacant spot on Gill’s bat.
Cornerstone Ventures, the talent management firm that represents Indian captain Virat Kohli, also represents Gill. According to the information available with InsideSport, currently both MRF and CEAT are in talks with the management company of Gill.
After India’s historic victory over Australia on Tuesday, RPG Enterprises Chairman Harsh Goenka had tweeted, “Shubman Gill deserves the CEAT bat again.”
Goenka also said on twitter, “Shubman had a contract with CEAT. He opted out this year to tie up with I think Yuvraj Singh’s brand. He is always welcome back.”
It is worth noting that Gill use to spot CEAT’s branding on his bat with a deal signed in 2018. During the IPL 2020 Gill had sported Yuvraj Singh’s brand YouWeCan. The sticker featured in the Test series too, but wasn’t visible in the last match of the series. The youngster spotted a blank bat in the Brisbane Test.
The Indian opening batsman was one of the highest run scorer for his team in the four-match test series. This included a 91-run innings on the final day of the last test, a knock that played a crucial role in India becoming the first Asian country to defeat the Australians at Gabba.
“So…which way is it heading? MRF or CEAT? Of course, I’m talking about Shubman’s bat sponsor. It’s almost preposterous to see no sticker on his bat,” said former batsman Aakash Chopra.
Currently in Indian cricket – Virat Kohli has biggest bat deal with MRF. Virat reportedly charges 5-6 Cr a year to spot MRG logo on his bat.
Rohit Sharma has a 3 Cr per annum deal with CEAT and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan bats for MRF. According to experts in the field, Gill is expected to earn 1.25 to 1.5 Cr per annum deal for his bat sponsorship.
