The second leg of the tie is scheduled to take place on January 12 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Chelsea are next in action in the third round of the FA Cup against Chesterfield at home on Saturday. Tottenham are also in FA Cup action at home to Morecambe on Sunday.

Marcos Alonso took advantage of a poor pass out from the back by Japhet Tanganga to play in Kai Havertz inside the area with the German’s shot being turned into the net by Davinson Sánchez to put the Blues 1-0 up.
Havertz then almost capitalised on another Spurs mistake at the back when Pierre-Emile Højbjerg’s clearance fell into his path but this time his shot at the near post was saved by Hugo Lloris. The lead was doubled in the 35th minute courtesy of a calamitous own-goal from the visitors.
Hakim Ziyech’s dangerous free-kick was headed against Ben Davies by Tanganga before the ball ended up nestled into the back of the net. Antonio Conte’s side didn’t manage a single attempt on goal in the first half and the Italian responded by bringing on Tanguy Ndombele at half-time.
That did bring a minor improvement and Harry Kane forced a smart save from Kepa Arrizabalaga with a free-kick from the edge of the box. But Chelsea had their chances to kill the game, and possibly the tie, off. Substitute Timo Werner cut inside from the left and flashed a right-footed shot just wide of the far post before Ziyech turned the ball over after being found clear at the far post.
Giovanni Lo Celso stung the palms of Kepa with a shot from close range in the 86th minute but that was about as close as it got for the visitors who now need to score three goals in the return leg next Wednesday if they are to book their place at Wembley.

He will look to forget the past success with Chelsea and look to assist Tottenham with a trophy this season. Chelsea defeated Brentford 2-0 while Tottenham defeated West Ham 2-1 in the Quarter-final.
