Burnley 0-2 Manchester City Live: Man City reclaim top spot
Manchester City made light work of Burnley to move back to the top of the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s side had been disloged from first place earlier in the day after Liverpool’s win over Watford but Kevin De Bruyne settled their nerves after five minutes.
Raheem Sterling’s cut-back set the Belgian up perfectly to lash the ball into the top corner from close range. Sterling was involved again to make it two after 25 minutes, this time pulling the ball into the path of Ilkay Gündogan to place past Nick Pope from 10 yards out.

Gündogan became the highest scoring German international in the league’s history with the goal, which was his 34th strike, eclipsing Mesut Özil. City now go into next week’s crunch title showdown with Jürgen Klopp’s men in the driving seat.
City, of course, are now back in first place in the table, but with only a point in it, and the two sides’ goal difference separated by just five, this title race is only going to get more enthralling. Burnley were second best by some distance, and remain second bottom. They’ve got games in hand on the teams either side of them, but have played once more than Everton now, and time is running out to keep their fate in their own hands.
