Brighton 0-2 Liverpool LIVE: Liverpool beat Brighton to stay three points behind Man City
Liverpool cut the gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City to three points with victory away at Brighton on Saturday afternoon.
After a strong Seagulls start, it was Liverpool who took the lead on 19 minutes when Joël Matip picked out Luis Díaz’s run with a delightful through ball and he bravely headed into the net despite receiving a reckless kick from goalkeeper Robert Sánchez as he did so and he somehow avoided a red card for the challenge following a VAR check.
Leandro Trossard missed a huge chance at the outset of the second half when he blazed over with just Alisson to beat, while at the other end a deflected effort from Mo Salah was kept out by the top of the crossbar after he showed terrific footwork in the area.
But the Reds did double their advantage on the hour mark from the penalty spot after a blatant Yves Bissouma handball, allowing Salah to blast down the middle for the second and wrap up the points.
