Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded a special award after he became the leading scorer in the International Men’s goalscoring charts. Meanwhile, the Barcelona captain edged Jennifer Hermoso (Barcelona/Spain) and Sam Kerr (Chelsea/Australia). Érik Lamela was named as the FIFA Puskás Award winner for 2021 after scoring an impressive rabona for Tottenham against rivals Arsenal.

It was Robert Lewandowski and Alexia Putellas who won the Best FIFA Men’s and Women’s player 2021 award respectively. Lewandowski looked genuinely delighted to be the winner and spoke about breaking Gerd Müller’s Bundesliga record this year. Alexia Putellas won the Best FIFA Women’s Player of Year Award 2021. She is the first women Spanish player to win the award.
