BBL has confirmed a massive update of introducing its long-planned overseas player draft to lure some of the biggest T20 superstars. BBL had planned to introduce this overseas draft in 2020 but COVID-19 derailed their plans. After a wait of two years, BBL is all set to have a lucrative four-tire draft structure late last week. “We’ve been working on it for a little while in ways that we can work with our clubs to get the best overseas players in and we know part of that is making sure we can be as competitive as required from a salary perspective,” said Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia’s General Manager of Big Bash Leagues.

BBL 2022-23: What are the four categories of BBL overseas draft? – There are in total four categories – Gold, Silver, and bronze tiers. Cricket Australia (CA) is prepared to shell top dollar for some of the game’s best T20 talent. CA and BBL will decide and give the best foreign player a top tier even if he is available to play only a few games.
BBL 2022-23: How much salary will foreign superstars earn in season 12 of BBL?
It has been reported that a player in a bronze category will earn a six-figure sum. The top category platinum tier will get three times more than bronze. A date for the overseas player draft will be confirmed by CA shortly, but the players will be able to nominate for the draft categories from today.
