Esports enthusiasts from all around the country, as well as casual gamers, are celebrating the return of Battlegrounds Mobile India to their devices. The unparalleled Battle Royale experience of PUBG Mobile was snatched away from Indian gamers in September 2020 when MEITY imposed a ban on the game along with various other Chinese apps. That said, BGMI recorded the biggest comeback in the history of mobile gaming & has topped the charts in google within 24 hours of its launch. Free Fire COD Mobile FAU-G

PUBG Mobile has been dominating the gaming & esports space of India since its release. However, during the absence of the game, people were hopeful that other Esports titles like COD Mobile & made in India games like FAU-G will utilize this opportunity and establish themselves as games worth investing.

Why do players choose BGMI over other games like Free Fire, COD Mobile, FAU-G?

Free Fire is the only mobile game that has been consistent & maintained exponential growth throughout this time. Recently, the Free Fire World Series Singapore 2021 broke all records & claimed the throne of most-watched live Esports event with a peak concurrent viewership of 5.4 Million. In terms of other stats, the free-to-play Battle Royale game has double the number of subscribers (8 Million) on its official YouTube channel compared to Battlegrounds Mobile India (4 Million).

Although Battlegrounds Mobile India is the current top-grossing game in the country, it is true that there are more active Free Fire players around than BGMI. Thanks to its lightweight built, the game runs smoothly on low-end devices as well which is the main factor the helped to build its massive player community.

While COD Mobile does provide an AAA multiplayer experience, its Battle Royale mode still feels unfinished & failed to maintain much hype. Furthermore, there was a lack of regional Esports events from COD Mobile which was a pillar of PUBG Mobile’s success in India. On the other hand, FAU-G was an overall disappointing experience for most gamers as the game featured only campaign mode which wasn’t intriguing enough to Indian gamers who are already exposed to AAA mobile games.

Therefore, apart from Free Fire, other games will struggle severely when BGMI Esports kick starts again. Seems like the game has forged an impenetrable bond with the majority of Indian gamers which likely to last a while. That said, it’s only a matter of time before another developer comes up with a better product & challenges PUBG Mobile head-on. With famous PC gaming titles such as Apex Legends & VALORANT coming up with mobile versions of their widely appreciated gaming experience, it’ll be interesting to see if Indian gamers shift their attention to any other game instead of Battlegrounds Mobile India.
