India won the Sabina Park Test within four days to complete the whitewash of hosts West Indies on their one-month tour of the Caribbean. So did the Pro Kabaddi League to other sports genre programmes in the Week 36 of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) of India television ratings between August 31 and September 6.
Live broadcast of India’s second and final Test in the West Indies invoked little response on Sony Sports Network, whereas PKL further consolidated its position in all the top five most-watched sports genre programme slots.

Cricket ratings were expected to surge as India completed the whitewash in the Caribbeans, but it turned to be an anti-climax in favour of the Pro Kabaddi League. Cricket for over a month has failed to find a place among the five most-watched sports shows.

Sony Ten 3 and Sony Ten 1 managed to hang on to their respective third and fourth positions, but in spite of broadcasting LIVE Virat Kohli-led Indians pursuit for the Test and Series win in Sabina Park, the Sony Sports cluster ended up losing eyeballs.
Star Sports 2 in the fifth position made impressive gains

PKL in the next week will have little challenge in the sports genre broadcast on Indian television as there is no significant cricket content in the week between September 7 and 15. Thereafter Star Sports will be in for major gains as Team India start their home series against South Africa with the first T20 in Dharamshala on September 15, Sunday.
