Australian Open: Ankita Raina fails to qualify after losing to Olga Danilovic in final qualifier

Australian Open:  Ankita Raina had her dream of making the Australian Open main draw crushed by Serbia’s Olga Danilovic in the final qualifier. The Serb started the match on the front foot and claimed the opening set 6-2, forcing Ankita to bring her A game in the following set. In the second set we saw Ankita bringing a hardened approach and stood tall against Olga and defeated her 6-3 to tie the match. The final set was a straightforward affair of Danilovic ripping apart Ankita by putting in a  masterclass and beating her 6 games to 1 and the 19 year old Serbian went ahead to book her seat in the main draw of this season’s first grand slam.

Australia Open 2021:American John Isner has pulled out of Australian Open 2021, citing strict COVID 19 protocols as the reason. He made the declaration on Monday after his defeat in the Delray Beach Open quarter-finals.

Isner has said that severe Covid-19 protocols will compel him to be away from his family
for an all-encompassing period and he was not ready to experience that.

Players and staff need to be quarantined for fourteen days before they partake in warmup
occasions at Melbourne Park. The tournament stands to begin on January 2021.

“At this stage of my career and in my life, I always had visions of being able to travel with
my family,” Isner told reporters on Monday. “Of course, that wouldn’t be the case for
Australia this year. Understandably so, I get it. It really was just a situation where I didn’t
want to be away from my family for that long. I decided to stay home.”
