Australian Grand Prix: Disaster strikes for Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes: Lewis Hamilton says no changes in the W13 challenger is working. Hamilton said, “It’s just nothing we change on the car makes a difference at the moment. So that’s the difficult thing. You’re getting very optimistic, and then you make changes, and then it doesn’t seem to be wanting to improve.”

“We made some changes going into P2. P1 was better. P2 ended up being a bit harder for me. So I don’t know, it’s just a tricky car.”

Mercedes started the weekend behind frontrunners Ferrari and Red Bull. Meanwhile, Mercedes sees itself slipping into the midfield region after the first day of the Australian Grand Prix. It was a day to forget for the Silver Arrows team.

Hamilton even accepted that the current pace is what he has to deal with throughout the weekend. He expects that Mercedes will find a way back to the top. The Brit driver needs to stay patient as engineers are working towards negating the Porpoising issue.

Hamilton added, “There’s just not a lot we can do. This is the way it is so we just have to drive with it. That’s just the frustrating thing because you’re trying to push, trying to catch and even when you do a decent lap it’s 1.2 seconds down. It’s just difficult.”

Russell said some of the Porpoising he witnessed on Friday was “the heaviest” he had ever encountered. He feels that the team has lots of work to do overnight. Russell said, “Clearly quite a lot. We’re not in a position we want to be.”

“There’s quite a few midfield cars ahead of us. And obviously, we’re quite a long pace away from the front. So we need to work hard tonight to understand the limitations.”

Australian Grand Prix: George Russell said some of the Porpoising he witnessed on Friday was “the heaviest” he had ever encountered.

Regarding Mercedes’ struggle to find a solution, Russell said the team hasn’t left any stones but still comes empty-handed. Russell added, “We need to keep digging into the data. We’ve gone left, right, and center with the set-up, and all have resulted in a similar outcome so we need to try and get on top of things and understand why.”

George Russell finished the day in the eleventh position and Lewis Hamilton in the thirteenth position. They are literally struggling to find any race pace and even the midfield teams are doing better than them. If they fail to come out with a good result at the Australian Grand Prix, then their fight for the title will be much more difficult.

Red Bull and Ferrari are pushing their cars to the limit and the results are showing on the track. They are the teams who have got the hang of their 2022 cars and even the Porpoising issue.
