“VP Suhair will surely play. He has played well and scored for his side for the last two years. Despite being a striker, he has good defensive abilities. In this season’s ISL we saw how he created problems for the opposition,” said Indian head coach Igor Stimac.
“Suhair will surely get minutes with Sunil not being in the squad. He scored 4-5 goals in training yesterday. He knows how to put the ball at the back of the net,” added Stimac. India is scheduled to play two international friendlies against Bahrain and Belarus on 23rd and 26th March 2022 respectively.
Speaking at the Press Conference, Igor Stimac spoke praises for the forward who plays for Northeast United FC. The Northeast side had a horrible season in ISL 2021-22 finishing in the penultimate spot of the points table, just over SC East Bengal. Northeast United managed to win just 3 games, drew 5, and lost 12 games. Amidst all the negative, VP Suhair was the only positive for the team.

The 29-year-old forward played a total of 19 games and scored 3 goals and registered 2 assists. Despite his low goal-scoring record, he has been immense throughout the field with his performances. His good performance over the years has paved his way to the National team.
An ecstatic VP Suhair spoke to AIFF media after getting to know about his inclusion in the team for the International friendlies. “This is a dream come true for me, not just for me, but my entire family. I have not stopped training since playing my last competitive match, and am on a strict diet, and have approached all fitness sessions with extreme seriousness prior to joining the camp.”
Stimac said, “Ishaan Panditya hasn’t been regularly featured by his side this season. On the other hand, Suhair has been performing well and thus he gets the chance in the team. However, that doesn’t mean Ishaan is out from the squad. He will be available for the selection ahead of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.”
