Antoine Griezmann’s loan deal consisted of a clause that made Atletico Madrid liable to buy Griezmann if he played in half of their matches for more than 30 minutes. Diego Simeone’s team has had a core spot for the French man on the team for a long time.
Hence, Atletico was not shy to buy out Griezmann on a permanent deal. The Roji Blancos are paying a significantly less amount as the clause that was set to buy out Griezmann was 35 million euros. However, the Barca board is happy to let the player leave for a 17.5 million fee. Griezmann had reportedly joined Barcelona for a fee of 108 million euros. His departure from the club permanently did not help the Catalan club as significantly as they would have liked.
