Amazon Prime Video will premiere Farhan Akhtar’s sports drama Toofan, based on the life of a boxer. The film, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, will premiere on Amazon’s OTT platform Prime Video on May 21 across 240 countries. Toofan is produced by Excel Entertainment in association with ROMP Pictures.
This will be Akhtar’s second sports drama movie after playing the role of the sprinter Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag that was a box of success. Akhtar will play the lead role, besides Mrunal Thakur, Paresh Rawal, Supriya Pathak Kapur and Hussain Dalal.

It remains to be seen if Toofan could emulate Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’s success. But Mehra had no doubt in selecting Akhtar as the protagonist. “After working with Farhan in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, I was certain he would be the perfect protagonist for Toofaan. The best thing about him is that he does not act the part, but lives it completely.
