All through 2017, Indian sportspersons from numerous disciplines not only made it to the headlines but also fascinated fans in India and around the world by emerging as victors in the battle of will, guts, resilience and supreme skill.
Mirabai Chanu bagged the gold in Weightlifting World Championship. Within four years of launch, Indian Super League has led to the resurgence of football’s popularity in the country. The game in India has received a major boost after India successfully hosted the FIFA U-17 Football World Cup. While the ‘Men in Blue’ continued their dominance in all forms of cricket, the ‘Ladies in Blue’ reached the finale of World Cup only to be beaten by a marginally better team on the D-Day. Sundar Singh Gurjar won the gold medal for India in World Para Athletics Championship. One of the best things to have happened this year was Olympic Medalist and true sports champion Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore taking charge as the Minister for Sports Youth Affairs in the Central Government.
National badminton coach Pullela Gopichand declared 2017 as a great year for Indian Badminton… and why not? Who can forget P V Sindhu’s epic performance in the World Championship Finals in Glasgow? Srikanth became the first Indian to win back to back Super Series titles and achieved an all-time career-high, No 2 BWF Ranking.
Recapitulating the year gone by, it can be said with certitude that 2017 was a great year for SportzConsult as well. The versatile sports management and consultant company worked with some of the biggest brands and leagues in the country (Star Sports, Reliance Foundation Youth Sports, Tata Tea, TI Cycles, Nestle Milo, Mattel Hot Wheels, Mattel Scrabble, Axis Bank, Nike, BBC Sports, Golds Gym etc.) Earlier this year, SportzConsult helped Reliance Foundation Jr. NBA set Guinness World Records Title with over three thousand kids participating in the largest basketball lesson.
Established in 2003, SportzConsult facilitated playing opportunities for over four million Indians in 2017 (including young kids, youth, adults, and corporate executives). This year, the team won three awards at WOW Asia including a Gold for RF. NBA Jr. program. Applause and accolades continued for the squad at SportzConsult when they received three more Awards at Exchange4Media BW Applause Awards, including a gold for Rajasthan Government’s Women Empowerment Project.
Jitendra Joshi, the Co-founder and Director at SportzConsult was conferred with the prestigious Public Relations Council of India’s ‘Entrepreneur of The Year’ award for SportzConsult’s phenomenal contribution towards grassroots sports development in India. SportzConsult’s core competency lies in consulting and connecting the dots – be it connecting the brand managers with their Bull’s Eye TG or be it connecting the dots when it comes to leagues and massive grassroots sports development programs.
Speaking to InsideSports, Jitendra Joshi (Jitu) appeared to be visibly euphoric as he proudly stated “We worked with marquee brands and leagues this year and ensured we carry the brands to a different league and made strong brands out of the leagues we handled. We end the year on a high!! SportzConsult bags mandate for venue management operations for Vodafone Premier Badminton League 2017. Today, regarded as India’s No.1 grassroots sports development company, we have been assigned the Delhi and Lucknow chapters for this edition of Vodafone PBL. We believe in creating great sports experiences and therefore preparations are in full swing. The team is excited and geared up.”
It was a busy year for SportzConsult on various counts. In January, the company released the first ever White Paper on ‘Experiential Sports Marketing’. The aim was to help brand managers looking to gain a competitive edge by developing a positive brand image among its target audience. In May, “Leaderonomics” a Malaysia-based business magazine which focusses on developing leaders, published Jitu’s article on Sports Parenting titled “Parents kill child’s source of happiness”.
Sports Fraternity and key stakeholders valued ‘Our View Point’ on “A Practical Approach towards building A Sporty Nation” and it has been discussed in detail at forums organised by ET NOW, CII, IISM, ISB, India Sports Forum, Indian Football Forum and PRCI.
Jitu further emphasized on the fact that SportzConsult is thankful to all those clients who gave it an opportunity to partner with them, broaden the core team’s horizons, learn through these projects, sharpen the focus and enhance the expertise.
“We look forward to another exciting year ahead, and wish everyone ‘health, happiness and holistic growth all through 2018’. The new year is synonymous with New Year Resolutions… We don’t have any new resolutions for the year… We will keep working relentlessly towards our credo of making India a sporty nation!!” quipped Joshi who believes strongly in the doctrine of Karma.
